Who Should You Bring When Buying a Car?

There are few things in life more frustrating than having your mind made up only to be road blocked over a trivial factor or technicality.  This is why it is necessary to stop and check that you have everything you need before embarking out on a successful day of car shopping.

If you are like most people you have limited time and probably don’t like replicating the same work over and over again.  This is one of the key reasons that many people opt for setting aside a day for car shopping and making a decision on that day or the next.  After all, who wants to spend their free time running from dealership to dealership?  With this in mind, let’s turn our attention to how you can get finish your car buying quickly by having everything you need with you.

Item One-Your Cellphone

Why is your cellphone important?  In some cases it might not be, but if you need to confer with your wife or husband regarding a car deal you’ve discovered, you will want your cell phone on hand.  You will also want your cell phone handy for directions as well.

Item Two-Your Driver’s License

Odds are that you are not leaving home without your driver’s license anyway, but this is definitely one of those days that you will want to know that you have it on hand.  Keep in mind that a test drive is out of the question without your driver’s license!

Item Three-Pen and Paper

Looking at cars, even in a single dealership, can get confusing due to all the different makes and models.  However, with extra pen and paper you will be able to keep track of key facts.  This will allow you to narrow down your search.

Item Four-Snacks

Having a couple of snacks on hand is a good idea.  This is especially true if you are the kind of person that gets grumpy without regular meals.  Why lose out on the perfect car you wanted just because you are a little hungry?  Your nerves will also be calmer during negotiation if your stomach is full.

Item Five-Your Old Car

If you are planning to trade-in your current car, it is important to bring it with you to the dealership.  The inventory manager must check it out to assess its trade-in value.  If you don’t bring it with you, it will delay the entire process.

Item Six-Loan Preapproval

If you are already preapproved for a loan, you might want to bring that documentation with you to the dealership.  This will put you in a better bargaining position.
